Columbus Blue Jackets first round pick available for trade.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have let teams know their first-round pick from the Kings is available for trade for a top-four defenseman.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have been a disappointment this year as they were a team expected to contend for the playoffs instead of being the bottom feeders of the NHL.

The only good news about the horrid season they have had is they have a legit shot a drafting Connor Bedard at the 2023 NHL entry draft.

At the NHL trade deadline, the Blue Jackets acquired draft assets they are willing to move to improve the team for next season.

Blue Jackets looking to trade first-round draft pick for top-four defenseman

Pierre LeBrun was on TSN’s Insider Trading segment and reports Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen has let teams know that their 2023 first-round pick from the LA Kings is available for trade.

LeBrun went on to say in his TV hit that the Blue Jackets are seeking a top-four defenseman in return for the draft pick to replace defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov who was traded at the NHL trade deadline.

What are Blue Jackets fans saying about the team trading the first-round pick?

I see Columbus being a playoff contender next year. I sure hope they land Connor Bedard. That fan base deserves it!

That Johnny Gaudreau signing has not panned out. Laine is always injured. They will miss out on Bedard and they are headed for a full rebuild.

The Kings first-round draft pick will be a late first rounder. Not sure a team will give up a top-four dman for the pick.
