The St. Louis Blues may be looking at being sellers at the NHL trade deadline with forward Ryan O’Reilly getting the most trade rumor attention. One other player that teams will be calling the Blues about is Vladimir Tarasenko.
Tarasenko does own a no-trade clause so he will have a say on which team he ends up on.
Possible Vladimir Tarasenko trade destinations
The Fourth Period reports the following three teams will have the most interest in a Vladimir Tarasenko trade.
- New York Islanders: The Isles are the most likely destination for Tarasenko. Back in the summer of 2021 when Vladimir Tarasenko requested a trade, the Islanders were a team he would accept a trade to. The NYI are in need of an additional scorer and would be a great fit to compliment Mathew Barzal.
- New Jersey Devils: The Devils were the best team in the league at the quarter point in the NHL season but have cooled off considerably. Like the Isles, they are looking to add a scorer to the lineup and Tarasenko would fit well. Look for them to make a move at the NHL trade deadline to solidify a playoff spot.
- Calgary Flames: Who knows if Tarasenko will waive his NTC to play in Canada but the Calgary Flames have been seeking a top 9 forward all year with no luck. They will inquire about Tarasenko’s availability.
Vladimir Tarasenko has a $7.5 million Blues salary cap hit and if a trade is to be facilitated with one of the teams above, the Blues will likely have to eat half of Tarasenko’s salary.
With Tarasenko also being a free agent this summer the return the Blues get in a Tarasenko trade might not be what Blues fans are hoping for.
