Ilya Samsonov injures knee
NHL trade rumors for November 6, 2022 feature the Toronto Maple Leafs. Read about 3 poosible goalie targets for the Maple Leafs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have a goalie problem if Ilya Samsonov is out longer than a week. They will need to find a backup goalie for new Leafs goalie starter Erik Källgren.

The big question is, which goalie do the Leafs make a move on?

Will The Leafs trade for Laurent Brossoit?

Laurent Brossoit is 3rd on the Vegas Golden Knights goalie depth chart and could be had for a cheap price. They Maple Leafs are fortunate that the Washington Capitals picked up Nicolas Aube-Kubel off waivers which freed up a contract spot for the Leafs as they were maxed out.

The problem the Leafs will have with acquiring Brossoit is his salary cap hit. He has a rich $2.325 million Vegas cap hit. I am not sure the Leafs would want to take on that contract, knowing Matt Murray and Samonov will be coming back.

Leafs could target Aaron Dell

The Toronto Maple Leafs could look to the San Jose Sharks for some goalie help.

Aaron Dell is the 3rd string goalie in San Jose and playing in the AHL. He comes with only a $775,000 Sharks cap hit. The asking price would be a 5th-7th round draft pick.

Could Keith Petruzzelli be the Leafs savior in net?

The Maple Leafs recently signed Keith Petruzzelli to a two-year entry level contract. He has started the season with Toronto’s AHL team the Toronto Marlies and has posted a 6-0-0 record.

Could he be the next Martin Brodeur for the Leafs? We will find out this week if the Leafs give Petruzzelli a shot in net? He is a big 6’6″ goalie and very agile.
