Picture of Jonathan Toews. Which team will sign the pending free agent?
What are three teams Jonathan Toews could end up signing with? We have the Winnipeg Jets, Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche interested.

It appears Jonathan Toews wants to continue his NHL career and it will likely not be with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Toews will be 35 when NHL free agent frenzy starts in July which means any team can offer him a low base salary contract with a bunch of performance incentive bonuses.

This leads us to what teams would be interested in signing Jonathan Toews this offseason.

3 teams that could sign Jonathan Toews this offseason

  1. Winnipeg Jets: A lot of hockey fans would like to see Jonathan Toews finish out his NHL career with his hometown Winnipeg Jets. If Jets management do make a Pierre-Luc Dubois trade this offseason, they could look at bringing in Toews to help with the centre slot position.
  2. Boston Bruins: If Patrice Bergeron decides to hang up the skates after this season, the Bruins will be looking to fill the void left by Bergeron and Toews would be the perfect fit for the Bruins.
  3. Colorado Avalanche: The Avalanche have been looking to fill the 2nd or 3rd line centre position all season. NHL rumors had Colorado interested in a Jonathan Toews trade before his Long COVID symptoms shut down Toews for the past few months. Toews would fit in nicely to the Avs lineup if he decides to come back for another season.

Will Jonathan Toews be back next season?

No idea whether I return to play for the Blackhawks next year, or play for another team, or I decide to move on to other things. I can tell the media wants to ask me about my so-called ‘pending retirement,’ even though I never said those words.

All signs are pointing to Toews returning for another season and it will be with another team. He wants to win another Stanley Cup, so he likely signs with a Stanley Cup contender in the offseason.
