James van Riemsdyk trade to Winnipeg
Will the Winnipeg Jets pursue a James van Riemsdyk trade if the Flyers are willing to eat part of his salary cap hit.

With the NHL trade deadline just under 3 weeks away, NHL trade rumors are picking up and the latest one that is floating around is the Winnipeg Jets have interest in a James van Riemsdyk trade.

van Riemsdyk is a pending UFA this summer and is having a solid season for the Philadelphia Flyers with 21 points (8g, 13a) in 33 games.

Will the Winnipeg Jets target James van Riemsdyk

Elliotte Friedman was on his 32 Thoughts Podcast and was discussing the Winnipeg Jets and what moves they might make at the trade deadline.

Friedman quashed the trade rumor that the Jets would target San Jose Sharks forward Timo Meier as he would just cost too much and target JVR instead.

Friedman went on to say in his Podcast hit the Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff does not like to give up big assets unless they have certainty the player will be there long-term, so JVR makes the most sense as the cost will be cheap to acquire his services.

What are fans saying about a James van Riemsdyk trade

If you are Philly, I’d look to move JVR now as the market value is high and they can retain cap.

JVR is a trade deadline day deal. The Flyers will get a draft pick for sure from the Jets.

The Flyers are legitimately considering keeping him. Not trading him to the Jets.
