Jonathan Toews headed to Winnipeg?
The Winnipeg Jets are looking to add a forward at the NHL trade deadline and they are targeting home town boy Jonathan Toews.

The Winnipeg Jets are sitting comfortably in a playoff spot and are challenging the Dallas Stars for the Central Division title.

The Jets are projected to have a little more than $9 million available of cap space at the NHL trade deadline and they will use that money to add some pieces for a long playoff run.

Winnipeg Jets interested in Jonathan Toews

TSN Insider Chris Johnston was on TSN Radio and he was asked about Jonathan Toews and what the future holds for him. Johnston believes Toews is more likely to be traded than Patrick Kane and he would waive his no-trade clause in the right situation.

Johnston went on to say in his radio hit that the Winnipeg Jets make a lot of sense. He is from Winnipeg, the team is headed to the playoffs, he is excellent in the faceoff circle, great locker room guy, he would be the perfect fit for the Jets.

Johnson did mention the Colorado Avalanche and Pittsburgh Penguins are other teams that have serious interest in a Toews trade.

NHL trade rumors: Colorado interested in Jonathan Toews

What are fans saying about Jonathan Toews going to Winnipeg?

Gotta be at the right price. Winnipeg still paying for trading away previous firsts and seconds.

If Chicago eats half the prorated hit or a 3rd team gets involved to help move the money around, then yes. His experience and face off prowess, especially come playoff time, would be invaluable.

The problem with landing Toews is that I dont think he makes enough of a difference at this point in his career, and his salary cap hit means the Winnipeg Jets can’t add much else. The Jets should aim bigger with either Timo Meier or Travis Konecny up front or put together a package for Jakob Chychrun.
