The latest NHL trade rumors for the Florida Panthers feature the team interested in signing Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos.

There have been recent NHL trade rumors surrounding Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning. It is speculated that he may become a free agent due to his expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s management over a lack of communication regarding a contract extension.

Stamkos is hoping to be a lifetime Lightning but the flat salary cap may prevent that from happening which could land him on the Florida Panthers next season.

Will Steven Stamkos become a Florida Panther?

Jeff Marek was chatting with Elliotte Friedman on their 32 Thoughts podcast about Steven Stamkos and where he could end up next season.

Marek believes if Stamkos becomes a free agent next offseason the Florida Panthers should target him.

Marek stated that the Panthers will have ample salary cap space next season, allowing them to provide the same incentives as Stamkos’ current team in Tampa.

What are NHL fans saying about Steven Stamkos signing with the Florida Panthers?

I would love to see this happen. It would be the funniest thing ever. Though I think Stamkos stays in Tampa.

Please pass on Stamkos. He is old, past his prime and not worth an expensive contract.

Tampa would be smart not to re-sign Stamkos. I think it is a good move by the team.
