Travis Sanheim
NHL trade rumors for October 3, 2022 feature Travis Sanheim. The Philadelphia Flyers will look to trade the defenceman for draft picks.

The Philadelphia Flyers are expected to be bottom feeders in the NHL this season and are all in on tank nation to try and get the best odds to draft Connor Bedard #1 overall at the 2023 NHL draft.

If Sanheim is made available the Vancouver Canucks will be one team that will have interest.

What is being said about a Travis Sanheim trade?

Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman were on their 32 Thoughts Podcast and discussing a Travis Sanheim trade. They figure if Flyers management let teams know he is available, there will be a lineup of teams interested in a trade.

With the Flyers backing out of the signing of Johnny Gaudreau in the offseason, stating they rather go the full rebuild route, GM Chuck Fletcher will trade Sanheim to build up on draft picks and prospects at some point this season.

Are the Vancouver Canucks interested in Travis Sanheim?

Marek stated on the 32 Thoughts Podcast with Friedman that the Cancuks should be all-in on a Sanheim trade.

If I’m Vancouver, I’m looking at Sanheim and thinking, ‘ohh, he would look good next to Quinn Hughes.”

Why the Philadelphia Flyers will not re-sign Travis Sanheim?

The Philadelphia Flyers have over $67 million in salary cap space signed to 14 players for next season, so it is unlikely the Flyers will be able to fit Sanheim into the Flyers salary cap going forward.

Sanheim, 26, was drafted 17th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1st round of the 2014 NHL entry draft. Currently over a career that spans 5 seasons, he has a total 116 Pts in 335 GP, and 8 playoffs Pts in 20 GP.
