Earlier this offseason NHL trade rumors were going around that the Arizona Coyotes were looking to trade Phil Kessel. It was reported that Kessel would love to be traded to the Vegas Golden Knights but there was no interest from the Knights making that trade.

Elloitte Friedman stated on Sportsnet, “I do think there will be a lot of eyes on Phil Kessel once the season begins. There were some conversations around the draft.”

Friedman went on to say there were rumors the San Jose Sharks had interest in Kessel at the NHL draft, but that was not going to happen. If he starts out the season hot, things are going to intensify in a hurry.

Kessel has a salary cap hit is $6.8 million and if the Coyotes are willing to retain 50% of the cap hit, a trade will likely happen. The Seattle Krakren and Detroit Red Wings could be the teams to look out for to make a trade for Kessel.
