With the Dallas Stars trying to get restricted free agents Jason Robertson and goaltender Jake Oettinger signed to new long-term deals, the Stars have no salary cap room to re-sign free agent John Klingberg.
Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman discussed Klingberg on their 32 Thoughts Podcast and Marek believes the Detroit Red Wings are the team that will sign Klingberg, but not to the long-term deal Klingberg seeks.
The other team that could sign Klingberg is the Seattle Kraken. Like the Red Wings, they have the cap space to sign Klingberg.
With Klingberg, 29, exiting out of his prime years, it is likely he will not get the $7.5-$8.5 million/year deal he wants. He will more likely sign a long-term deal in the $6 million/year range.
