Rasmus Andersson Calgary Flames rumors
NHL insider discusses the possibility of the Calgary Flames trading Rasmus Andersson. Will he be on the move?

The Calgary Flames are in a state of transition, and with that comes uncertainty surrounding the future of several key players. One name that has been circulating in the rumor mill is defenseman Rasmus Andersson.

Despite General Manager Craig Conroy’s assertion that he doesn’t want to engage in another “fire sale,” Andersson’s absence from Conroy’s list of core players has fueled speculation about a potential trade.

Andersson Trade Rumors Heat Up as Flames’ Future Remains Uncertain

Andersson, a solid two-way defenseman, has garnered interest from teams like the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning. Both teams are looking to bolster their blue lines for a Stanley Cup run, and Andersson’s skill set and reasonable contract make him an attractive target.

However, the Flames’ position in the standings will likely dictate whether Andersson is moved. If the team is in a playoff spot come Christmas time, it’s unlikely that Conroy will part with a valuable asset like Andersson. But if the Flames find themselves outside of the playoff picture, trading Andersson could become a viable option to acquire future assets.

My Take:

As an NHL insider, I believe that the Flames are in a tough spot. They want to build a winning culture, but they also need to be realistic about their chances this season. Andersson is a valuable player, but he could also bring back a significant return in a trade. Ultimately, the decision will come down to whether the Flames believe they can compete for a playoff spot this year. If they don’t, trading Andersson could be the best move for the future of the franchise.

  1. Really it depends on what they get offered too. It’ll take a very good offer to convince Conroy to move Andersson especially this year.
