It has been reported that the free agent is being considered by the Detroit Red Wings.

NHL Analyst Pierre McGuire was on Montreal’s TSN 690 radio and stated that he sees Patrick Kane as a fit with the Detroit Red Wings.
According to his radio appearance, McGuire highlighted that the Red Wings have the ability to provide Kane with a salary of $3 million because of their available salary cap space. On the other hand, the Leafs would only be able to offer the league minimum salary due to their salary cap limitations.
It has also been speculated that Kane would like to play with his former Blackhawks teammate Alex DeBrincat in Detroit.
