Sharks, Canadiens interested in John Tavares
NBC Sports: The San Jose Sharks could be among the clubs to pursue John Tavares, citing Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reporting of their interest in the Isles captain back in April. The Sharks will have “plenty of cap space” plus a need for a first-line center as Joe Thornton ages.
The Montreal Canadiens have nearly $9 million in salary-cap space. but in an interview with NHL Network, Friedman believes they’ll hold onto that in order to make the biggest move they can. Friedman feels if there’s a situation where the New York Islanders place pending UFA center John Tavares on the trade block the Habs will be all in.
