Toronto Sun: Steve Simmons is reporting Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul has told friends he believes he’s played his final game for Toronto. If this report is true from Simmons, it is more likely Lupul will be bought out rather than traded. Lupul carries a $5.25 million cap hit through 2017-18.
Steven Stamkos rights could be shopped this week
The Hockey News: Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun speculates Steven Stamkos’ rights could be shopped at some point this week. GM Steve Yzerman told people he can’t go above $8.5 million per season for Stamkos. If Stamkos does not re-sign with the Lightning, the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres are the front-runners to sign him.
