Will the Arizona Coyotes trade Oliver Ekman-Larsson?
The Ottawa Sun: Bruce Garrioch reports the Arizona Coyotes will have a decision to make on defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The Coyotes have to determine if now is the time to deal the 26-year-old blueliner, who can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2019. It’s believed the Toronto Maple Leafs are among the teams that have shown more than a passing interest in Ekman-Larsson. You can put the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers in that group, too, but league sources said the asking price was extremely high. Not only do the Coyotes want two high-end players off a club’s roster, but they’re also asking for a first-round pick.
Latest NHL Trade Rumors for the Florida Panthers
Ottawa Sun: Bruce Garrioch reports Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon has been working the phones. He’s been trying to get some forward depth, but with no such luck so far. The Panthers went into Saturday’s action six points out of the final wildcard spot in the East and had only 122 goals. They badly need to start putting the puck in the net. They’d be among a group of teams, including the St. Louis Blues, that have held talks with the Senators about winger Mike Hoffman.
The Ottawa Senators will be busy at the NHL Trade Deadline
Toronto Sun: The talk in league circles is that no less than 10 teams are looking for help up front before the deadline and, in case you haven’t noticed, the Ottawa Senators have no shortage of depth in that area. The talk among league insiders is the San Jose Sharks, Florida Panthers, Winnipeg Jets, Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks may all be in the market for a forward at the deadline. Most of the teams that have taken the time to call the Senators have genuine interest in the likes of forwards Mike Hoffman, Zack Smith, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Ryan Dzingel and Derick Brassard. The talk is the Senators have indicated captain Erik Karlsson and winger Mark Stone aren’t available.
