Will the Montreal Canadiens trade Tomas Plekanec?

The Fourth Period: There have been plenty of trade rumors of the Montreal Canadiens trading Max Pacioretty. That will likely not happen until the off-season. One player the Habs are debating moving is veteran centre Tomas Plekanec, who is in the final year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1. Plekanec, 35, does not own any no-trade protection and can be moved without any consent. In 42 games with the Habs so far this season, Plekanec has registered four goals and 12 assists for 16 points.

Canucks Erik Gudbranson getting interest from numerous teams

The Athletic: Mike Halford lists the Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins as possible trade destinations for Vancouver Canucks defenseman Erik Gudbranson. He will likely be traded at the 2018 NHL trade deadline if the asking price is reasonable.

Rick Nash would like to re-sign with the New York Rangers

NBC Sports:  Rick Nash, 33, is in the final year of his eight-year, $62.4 million contract. While his annual salary cap hit is $7.8 million, he’s earning $8.2 million in actual salary this season. Darren Dreger reports Nash wants to stay in New York, and the feeling certainly appears to be mutual, though contract talks have not begun.  He’s on pace for 34 points this season, as of now, which would give him three-straight 30-point seasons after registering 42 goals and 69 points with the Rangers in 2014-15. Nash’s next annual salary could hover around the $4 million mark, once contract negotiations get going.
