Ryan O’Reilly Rumors: The Buffalo Sabres have the most interest in Ryan O’Reilly and have a coveted first round pick they are willing to trade for him. The Sabres still have to decide if the Winnipeg Jets will get the Blues or Islanders 1st round pick in the Evander Kane trade. O’Reilly will not be traded until the summer because O’Reilly can’t actually sign an extension with a team until the off-season. Any team making a trade now for him, will not guarantee him re-signing in the summer.
The Fourth Period: The Florida Panthers are close to trading Sean Bergenheim. The teams pursuing Bergenheim are the Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets are among the teams interested in Bergenheim.
The Hockey News: The Philadelphia Flyers recent re-signing of blueliner Nick Schultz to a two-year, $4.5-million contract extension could result in one or two Flyers defensemen hitting the trade block before the NHL trade deadline. The Schultz signing increases the likelihood blueliners Braydon Coburn or Nick Grossmann will be moved.
