The Score: GM’s are starting to contact the Toronto Maple Leafs about forward Phil Kessel. Per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada’s Saturday “Headlines” segment:
From what I understand out of that, teams are starting to call the Toronto Maple Leafs and say, ‘if we’re serious about doing this, what is the price going to be?’ I don’t think this is going to happen – if it happens – for another couple of weeks, but I think we’re at the phase now where the serious teams who want to talk about him are going to Toronto and saying, ‘what are we looking at if we want to get this done?’
New York Post: Larry Brooks believes New York Rangers defenseman Keith Yandle should be traded this off season. Yandle has a year left on his contract at a cap hit of $2.65 million, with the Coyotes picking up the other half. Brooks doubts the Rangers will re-sign him and suggests packaging the blueliner with backup Cam Talbot for a strong, grinding physical forward.
The Boston Globe: Will Bostson Bruins defenceman Dougie Hamilton receive an offer sheet? The Bruins are tight against the salary cap and might not be able to match a big offer from a team. A team like the Edmonton Oilers might be willing to sacrifice a compensation package of draft picks by targeting a cap-strapped club like the Bruins.
