Will the Toronto Maple Leafs trade Joffrey Lupul?

The Hockey News: Joffrey Lupul, who turns 33 in September, has two seasons left on his contract at an annual salary-cap hit of $5.25 million. He also carries a modified no-trade clause. The Leafs have three options with Lupul: they can ride out those remaining seasons, package Lupul in a trade, or try placing him on long-term injured reserve. The best option for the Leafs is to trade him to a club with lots of cap space and no notable restricted free agents to re-sign. The Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils are the most logical option for the Leafs. The question is, are those two teams on Lupul’s list he would be willing to be traded to?

Which team will Jimmy Vesey sign with? 2016 Hobey Baker Award winner Jimmy Vesey, is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on August 15. The New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers would like to sign Vesey, but he is more likely to sign with either the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins or Chicago Blackhawks.

Boston Bruins looking for defensive help Craig Custance is reporting that Boston Bruins are trying to upgrade their defence. GM Don Sweeney is working the phones, but it’s not easy to make trades at this time of year. “A lot of [trade talks] have taken place, a lot of them are ongoing,” Sweeney said of upgrading his defense.”
