Marc Staal

The Hockey News: The Florida Panthers want to ship out some veteran forwards to make room for younger players. Teams have interest in right winger Brad Boyes. Boyes could be a good fit with the Pittsburgh Penguins, who’ve been in market for a scoring winger since October.

Detroit Red Wings blueliner Jakub Kindl is on the trade block. Kindl is under contract through 2016-17 at an annual cap hit of $2.4 million, which could make him attractive in the trade market if the salary cap for 2015-16 fails to significantly increase.

New York Post: Can the New York Rangers afford to re-sign Martin St. Louis next season? They have cap issues and want to re-sign Marc Staal. They may have to look at trading Derek Stepan and Carl Hagelin in the off season. If the Rangers know they won’t be able to sign Staal, GM Glen Sather will investigate trades as the deadline approaches.
