The New York Rangers will likely trade Chris Kreider

Are the Buffalo Sabres interested in Daniel Sprong?

Buffalo News: Mike Harrington reports one player who could be attractive to the Buffalo Sabres is Anaheim Ducks right winger Daniel Sprong, who scored 14 goals in 47 games for the Ducks last season.

Sprong, 22, was a second-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2015 and thus has a relationship with both Sabres General Manager Jason Botterill and assistant GM Randy Sexton from their days in Pittsburgh.

Sprong had 32 goals and 65 points in 65 games two years ago for Pittsburgh’s AHL farm club at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, but only had four goals in 42 games over parts of three seasons for the Pens.

Will the New York Rangers trade Chris Kreider?

Newsday Sports: Colin Stephenson is reporting that New York Rangers GM Jeff Gorton is not talking extension with Chris Kreider.

“No, right now, I haven’t talked to Chris or or (agent) Matt Keator lately. You know, we have some conversations over the summer, but right now, we’re just to let him play hockey and we’ll let those things work themselves out.”

If the New York Rangers are out of playoff contention when February hits, you can expect the Rangers to look at trading him at the 2020 NHL trade deadline for draft picks or a prospect.
