Kevin Bieksa

The Province: The Vancouver Canucks could have only $3 million in cap space for next season assuming the salary cap is $70 million next season to sign three defencemen and three forwards to get to the usual 23-player roster size. The Canucks will look at trading Kevin Bieksa, as he has a year left on his contract at a cap hit of $4.6 million and is eligible next summer for UFA status. He would have to waive his no-trade clause. Other trade options could be defenseman Dan Hamhuis ($4.5 million), Radim Vrbata ($5 million) or Alex Burrows ($4.5 million).

TSN Radio 1050: Darren Dreger was on the radio and was asked about Cody Hodgson. He feels the Buffalo Sabres will buy out Hodgson as he has not worked out in Buffalo. Dreger feels a team will sign Hodgson and take a chance on him as he is only 25.

The Fourth Period: The New York Rangers are looking to trade backup goaltender Cam Talbot, who has one-year remaining on his current contract. The Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers have interest in Talbot. The Rangers will be in the market for help up front, but could move Talbot for a high draft pick or two.
