TSN: Pierre LeBrun reports Brent Burns isn’t in any hurry to negotiate a contract extension. While he loves living and playing in San Jose, he wants to take his time before making the most significant decision of his career. The Sharks have made re-signing Burns their top priority.
Artemi Panarin seeking 6-year, $36M+ deal with the Blackhawks
TSN.ca: Artemi Panarin has reportedly set his asking price on an extension with the Chicago Blackhawks. Panarin is seeking a six-year deal with an average annual value above $6 million. He led all rookies with 30 goals and 70 points last season and won the Calder Trophy. The Blackhawks do not have alot of cap space so GM Stan Bowman will likely have make some moves for a new contract to be worked out.
Will the New York Islanders trade Jaroslav Halak?
NBC Sports: The New York Islanders could start the upcoming season with a logjam in goal. They’ve got Jarosav Halak, Thomas Greiss and Jean-Francois Berube under contract. The Islanders would like to take Halak, but currently there is no market for a starting goaltender. It appears Berube will start the season in the press box.
