Free agent Evan Rodrigues
NHL trade rumors for September 2, 2022 feature Evan Rodrigues. The Bruins, Red Wings and Canucks have interest in signing the free agent.

Now that Phil Kessel has found a home in Vegas for this coming season, another prominent free agent still looking for a home is Evan Rodrigues.

It was thought that Rodrigues would sign with someone during the free agent frenzy period back in July, but that was not the case.

Evolving Hockey had projected Rodrigues signing with a team on a three year term at $3 million/year.

What teams could Rodrigues sign with?

Bruins, Red Wings, Canucks interested in Evan Rodrigues

Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins will be without forward Brad Marchand until December and who knows how he will come back after his hip surgery?

If this is the last playoff run for the aging Boston Bruins, Evan Rodrigues would fill a hole in the Bruins lineup.

Rodrigues, 29, played his college hockey at Boston University and would welcome a Bruins signing.

Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings are still looking to fill up their roster and are looking at Evan Rodrigues as a possible option for their 3rd line.

Rodrigues is a versatile center as he showed last year with the Penguins and he would likely move up and down the Red Wings lineup as new coach Derek Lalonde would see fit.

Vancouver Canucks

Rick Dhaliwal of The Athletic reports that the Vancouver Canucks have an interest in signing Rodrigues.

The Canucks are in need of a right-handed center and Rodrigues would be a great fit for Vancouver’s third line.

Dhaliwal figures the Canucks could get Rodrigues on a pretty cheap show me one-year deal.
