Picture of William Nylander and Noah Dobson. Will the Leafs and Islanders make a trade?
The Latest NHL rumors for the Toronto Maple Leafs have a William Nylander for New York Islanders Noah Dobson trade in the works.

NHL rumors have the Toronto Maple Leafs and forward William Nylander no where close to getting a contract extension worked out.

Nylander is seeking a long-term contract worth $10 million/year and Leafs management are saying no thanks. They just can’t afford another big salary on the team.

One team that is looking for some scoring help is the New York Islanders. Could a deal be worked out between the Islanders and Leafs?

William Nylander headed to the New York Islanders?

Elliotte Friedman was on the NHL Network and reported that the New York Islanders have taken a pass on signing unrestricted free agent Vladimir Tarasenko and might go the trade route to look for some scoring help.

Friedman went on to say in his TV hit that with Nylander and the Toronto Maple Leafs no where close to getting a contract done. NHL trade rumors see a team that needs scoring like the Islanders make a inquiry.

What would it take for the Leafs to trade Nylander to the New York Islanders? If I am Leafs management, I am asking for Noah Dobson and nothing less.

The Islanders would have to figure out a way to shed more salary, as the new Nylander contract would likely be a sign and trade scenario.

What are NHL Fans saying about a possible William Nylander trade to the New York Islanders

Some team will pay Nylander $10M a year next offseason. If I am the Leafs, trade him now for a stud defenseman. The Islanders Noah Dobson would be an excellent return.

Screw the Islanders. Talk to Chicago. I would love to see Seth Jones in a Leaf uniform.

Not sure the Islanders can afford William Nylander. They are tight against the salary cap and paid that useless of a player Pierre Engvall a 6 year, $18M contract.

  2. Isles want a lot and can afford none. Sad state of affairs on Long Island. Great rental market, and they lock up multiple players for 7 years. Genius.
