Picture of Alex Killorn. Will he sign with the Montreal Canadiens this offseason?
The Montreal Canadiens have interest in signing pending free agent Alex Killorn this summer. He would be a great fit of the Habs.

The Montreal Canadiens will be looking to make some offseason moves to get the team into playoff contender status.

They will be looking at the free agent market and one player they will have their eye on is Tampa Bay Lightning forward Alex Killorn.

Alex Killorn headed to Montreal?

Jean-Charles Lajoie of TVA Sports reports that Alex Killorn, a Quebec native will be a top priority for Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes this offseason.

It is believed that the Tampa Bay Lightning will not be able to re-sign Killorn to a new deal because the Lightning are tight against the salary cap.

Lajoie went on to say in his piece that Killorn is the perfect fit for the Canadiens. He can still play at a high level and he is a very smart player with some sandpaper in his game that appeals to coach Martin St. Louis.

The one thing the Habs cannot do is overpay Killorn, 33, to get his services.

What are Habs fans saying about an Alex Killorn contract?

He’s already voiced numerous times Tampa is his home. He’ll be back on a discount.

Hope he does a team-friendly deal, won’t blame him if he doesn’t. He would be a great fit in Montreal.

He’s coming back at a discount. He will not sign with a rebuilding team.

  1. Doesn’t seem like match for the Habs in my opinion. He’s not going to fit in on a young team and the Habs need a long term winger to complement Suzuki and Caufield
