Winnipeg Jets forward Gabe Vilardi will be out of the lineup for 4-6 weeks after suffering a sprained MCL.

The Winnipeg Jets received a tough blow yesterday as forward Gabriel Vilardi was forced out of the lineup for an estimated 4-6 weeks due to a sprained MCL.

Head coach Rick Bowness confirmed the unfortunate news following Vilardi’s early exit during Tuesday’s 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings in the first period.

Vilardi, a 24-year-old with much promise, had been eager to make his mark in Winnipeg since his recent acquisition from the Kings.

Vilardi registered one assist over two games in his limited time on the ice, showing glimpses of his playmaking ability. His absence will undoubtedly be felt, as the Jets now face the challenge of adjusting their roster to compensate for losing his skill and presence on the ice.
