William Nylander for Colton Parayko trade
Will the St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs work on a deal involving Colton Parayko and William Nylander?

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been looking for a top 4, right-shot defenseman for some time and one may become available as we approach the NHL trade deadline.

The St. Louis Blues are heading towards being sellers at the trade deadline and may enter the Connor Bedard sweepstakes if their play and goaltending do not turn around quickly.

Will the St. Louis Blues trade Colton Parayko for William Nylander?

Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic discusses a potential Colton Parayko trade and states if the St. Louis Blues are entertaining the idea of trading Parayko, it would have to involve an established player coming back and not picks/prospects.

Rutherford feels the Toronto Maple Leafs would be a good fit for a Parayko trade and William Nylander would have to be the player coming back in this potential trade scenario.

This trade might not be a trade deadline deal but an offseason move. Nylander has one more year left on a $6.9 million contract and can the Maple Leafs afford to re-sign him? He will likely be seeking an $8 million/year contract in his next deal that will take him out of his prime years.

This will be interesting to watch if the Blues do indeed make Parayko available for trade and Parayko wants to be traded as he does own a no-trade clause.
