Picture of Mark Scheifele. Will the Boston Bruins or Carolina Hurricanes make a trade for Scheifele?
Mark Scheifele needs a change of scenery and the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes could come calling this offseason.

The Winnipeg Jets will have some tough decisions to make this offseason and one will be with their long time homegrown forward Mark Scheifele.

The Jets are looking to retool the team and NHL trade rumors have Scheifele, Blake Wheeler and Connor Hellebuyck as all trade candidates this summer.

Mark Scheifele, Boston or Carolina bound this offseason?

Boston Bruins

Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun reports the Boston Bruins have no desire to head into a rebuild and want to retool their team on the fly. They will have limited salary cap space but a Bruins trade for Mark Scheifele could work.

Billeck suggests the Bruins would have to trade Jake DeBrusk and Brandon Carlo to Winnipeg to complete a Scheifele trade.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes had trouble scoring goals in the Eastern Conference Finals and will be looking to correct that need for next season.

Mark Scheifele seems like the perfect fit in Carolina. He can snipe and have a very friendly Jets salary cap hit of $6.125 Million next season.

Billeck states in his online piece that it will cost the Hurricanes Seth Jarvis. If Hurricanes say Jarvis is untouchable, Winnipeg will want Martin Necas and Brett Pesce to complete a Scheifele trade.

What are NHL fans saying about a potential Mark Scheifele trade to Boston or Carolina?

The Bruins are losing Bergeron and Krejci. Scheifele would fit in nicely to put the B’s on another Stanley Cup run.

As a Hurricane fan, we are in win now mode. Make this trade now. Jarvis is not going anywhere though.

Scheifele probably needs a change of scenery. Good goal scorer but not at all defensively responsible and bad at face offs.
