Brock Boeser rumors swirl as the New Jersey Devils are reportedly interested in a trade with the Canucks.

The NHL trade deadline is always full of surprises, and this year, Brock Boeser has emerged as a potential trade target for the New Jersey Devils. With the Vancouver Canucks making significant roster moves, including sending J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers in a blockbuster deal, speculation has grown that Boeser could be the next big name on the move.

Vancouver’s Roster Shakeup Fuels Trade Rumors

The Canucks have been making waves with their recent transactions. After trading Miller to the Rangers and acquiring Marcus Pettersson and Drew O’Connor for Danton Heinen and Vincent Desharnais, Vancouver appears to be reshaping their roster. While early speculation pointed toward an Elias Pettersson trade, the latest buzz suggests that Brock Boeser could be the more likely forward to be moved.

James Nichols of New Jersey Hockey Now recently suggested that Boeser might become available ahead of the March 7 trade deadline. With the Devils in need of a proven goal scorer, especially one who can make an impact on their first power-play unit, Boeser appears to be an ideal target.

Why the Devils Should Pursue Boeser

Boeser is currently in the final year of a three-year contract with a $6.65 million cap hit. While his production has dipped this season, a change of scenery could help the 27-year-old winger rediscover his scoring touch.

New Jersey has been searching for a consistent scoring presence to complement their talented forward core. Adding Boeser to a top-six that includes Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, and Jesper Bratt could be the offensive boost the Devils need to solidify their playoff push.

The question remains: what would the Canucks want in return? Vancouver’s biggest needs include bolstering their defense and adding young, cost-controlled assets. A trade package featuring a young defenseman (Simon Nemec), might be enough to entice the Canucks into making a deal.

  1. Not happening. While Vancouver would do well to get Nemec from the Devils, it’s unlikely he’s available and even if he was, Devils would need to clear a lot of salary to fit Boeser in unless Vancouver retained 50% and took a contract back like Tatar. In that scenario, NJ might be more inclined but I don’t see it happening.
