Brad Richards has announced his retirement from the NHL after 15 seasons in the league. The two-time Stanley Cup champion appeared for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Dallas Stars, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings over the course of his 1,126 game career.

The 36-year-old will finish his career with 298 goals and 634 assists during regular season play as well as 105 points in 146 postseason games.

The Murray Harbour, PEI native was selected in the third round, 64th overall, of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the Lightning and made his debut for the team during the 2000-01 season.

Richards captured the Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Lightning and in 2014 with the Blackhawks.
