Scott Laughton, Philadelphia Flyers forward, skating on the ice.
Winnipeg Jets rumors are swirling! Could Scott Laughton be the answer to their problems? We break down the latest reports and analyze the potential trade.

The NHL trade rumor mill is churning, and one name keeps popping up: Scott Laughton. The Philadelphia Flyers forward has been linked to several teams since December, with the Winnipeg Jets being the latest suitor, according to NHL insider Anthony Di Marco of The Daily Faceoff. This potential acquisition could be a significant boost for the Jets, addressing some key needs as they push for a playoff spot.

Di Marco reports that Laughton, 30, is signed through next season with a reasonable $3 million AAV and, importantly, carries no no-trade protection. This makes him a highly attractive target for teams looking to add grit, versatility, and leadership. Laughton is a throwback player, a hard-working, feisty two-way forward who can slot in at either center or wing. He’s not a flashy scorer, but he brings the kind of intangibles that winning teams crave. Think of him as the glue guy, the player who does the dirty work and makes his teammates better. This is precisely what the Jets may need.

Winnipeg Jets Interested in Scott Laughton, Says Insider

The Jets have shown a desire to add more depth and experience to their roster. Laughton fits this bill perfectly. He brings a veteran presence and a willingness to play any role asked of him. His ability to play multiple positions gives the coaching staff flexibility and allows them to adjust lines as needed. He’s also a strong penalty killer and a responsible defensive player, two areas where the Jets could certainly improve.

The Flyers, however, are reportedly seeking a first-round pick in exchange for Laughton. This is a steep price, and it remains to be seen if the Jets are willing to meet that demand. General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has been known to be hesitant to part with future assets, but the opportunity to acquire a player like Laughton might be too good to pass up. The Jets are in a competitive window, and adding a player of Laughton’s caliber could be the difference between a deep playoff run and an early exit.

My personal take? This trade makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Flyers are likely in asset accumulation mode as they continue their rebuild, and a first-round pick would be a valuable piece for their future. For the Jets, Laughton provides immediate help and addresses some key needs. He’s the type of player who can elevate a team’s performance, both on and off the ice. If the Jets can find a way to make the financials work and convince the Flyers to lower their asking price slightly, this could be a home run trade for Winnipeg. It would signal their intent to contend and give them a much-needed boost heading into the crucial stretch of the season.

  1. Laughton is not on the trade block, neither is ristolainan. So there is no asking price for either player. They are listening to other teams as they should. Doesn’t mean they will move either of these players. It will take a really good offer for them to move either player. I mentioned risto because his name has been thrown around as well.
