William Nylander was in the NHL trade rumors mill all offseason, but all the speculation led to him not being moved and no new contract extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Nylander, 27, has stated he is willing to negotiate with the Leafs on a contract extension during the season. This has not stopped teams like the Carolina Hurricanes from showing interest in a Nylander trade.
If the Leafs can’t get him signed before the NHL season starts, he should be traded, with his value being so high right now.
Will William Nylander be traded to the Carolina Hurricanes?
The Toronto Maple Leafs are unwilling to meet Nylander’s demand for a $10 million yearly salary and are believed to be offering $8.5-$9 million instead.
The Carolina Hurricanes are the latest team rumored to be interested in William Nylander. Carolina is looking for offense, and he would fit great into the Hurricanes lineup.
NHL trade rumors have the following proposed trade involving William Nylander going to the Hurricanes for Brett Pesce and Seth Jarvis.
Toronto Maple Leafs trade:
William Nylander, 27, with one year remaining at $6,962,366
Timothy Liljgren, 24, with one year remaining at $1,400,000
3rd round draft pick 2025
Carolina Hurricanes trade:
Defenseman Brett Pesce, 28, with one year remaining at $4,025,000
Right Wing Seth Jarvis, 21, with one year remaining at $894,167
Leaf fans worried about losing Nylander next already……we’re only 8 games into season….get a grip..
Can’t happen as it puts the Canes over the cap
Great trade for both team but don’t think it will happen.
