The Ottawa Senators will be seeking a goalie this offseason as Cam Talbot will not be back with the team.
The Senators would love to make a trade for John Gibson but they just cannot afford to take on his salary. ($6.4 million for the next four years)
NHL trade rumors are making the rounds that the Sens have interest in Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter Hart.
Will the Ottawa Senators make a Carter Hart trade?
The Philadelphia Flyers are in rebuild mode and they have let teams know Carter Hart is available for the right price. Hart would be a great fit for an Ottawa Senators team who are looking to be a playoff contenders next year.
The problem with acquiring Hart this offseason is the price. Flyers management will be asking a lot for Hart who is only 24 years old and makes a very affordable $3.979 million.
The Sens are likely giving up a first round pick and a top prospect to acquire a franchise goalie.
Hart was drafted 48th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2nd round of the 2016 NHL entry draft. Currently over a career that spans 5 seasons, he has a total of 201 games played and 14 playoff games played.
