Alexis Lafreniere
NHL trade rumors for December 5, 2022 feature Alexis Lafreniere. Will the Canucks inquire about a Alexis Lafreniere trade?

Alexis Lafreniere’s name popped up in the NHL trade rumors mill a few times last year. He was tied to the Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks and those teams could revisit those trades his year.

Lafreniere, 21, currently has 10 points (3g, 7a) in 26 games this year and chatter is going around again about him being the latest #1 overall draft pick bust after Nail Yakupov, Alexander Daigle and Patrik Stefan.

Will the New York Rangers trade Alexis Lafreniere?

In Lafreniere’s defense, he has not been given 1st line opportunity or even powerplay time. This is his 3rd year in the league and will he ever see significant power play or first line minutes with the Rangers? Maybe Alexis Lafreniere needs a change of scenery to rejuvenate his career.

Even the NY Rangers fan base is getting frustrated with how the New York Rangers are handling Lafreniere.

At what point does the finger have to point towards the development staff instead of blaming them for being busts? The odds of a top 1-2 pick two years in a row not even NHL material is extraordinarily high.

Will the Vancouver Canucks trade for Alexis Lafreniere?

NHL rumors circulated last season the Canucks wanted to make a trade for Lafreniere but the NY Rangers were not ready to give up on their #1 overall draft pick.

With the Vancouver Canucks hiring Lafreniere’s former agent Emilie Castonguay, as assistant GM last year, could she persuade the Canucks brass to inquire about the availability of Lafreniere?
