Auston Matthews signs 3-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed first overall pick Auston Matthews to a three-year, entry level contract. Matthews contract includes the maximum amount for bonuses and salary, per sources.

Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello has been known not to give out bonuses to entry level contracts. Since Matthews is a #1 overall pick, I am sure Lamoriello had to change his stance for this contract.

Matthews spent last season with the ZSC Lions in Switzerland’s NLA where he had 46 points in 36 games. He also suited up for the United States at the IIHF World Championship this past May where he picked up seven goals and four assists in 10 games.
