Mackie Samoskevich is quickly becoming one of the most intriguing young talents in the NHL. Drafted 24th overall by the Florida Panthers in 2021, the Connecticut native has shown flashes of brilliance that suggest he could be a long-term fixture in the Panthers’ top six.

What sets Samoskevich apart is his elite puckhandling and spatial awareness. He blends pass receptions into creative dangles, often beating defenders with quick-twitch wrists and top-hand control. His ability to scan the ice and anticipate plays makes him a cerebral forward who thrives in transition and on the power play.

However, his game isn’t without flaws. While offensively gifted, he’s still developing consistency in his defensive zone coverage and physical play. His -7 career plus-minus rating reflects some growing pains at the NHL level.

Still, with a Stanley Cup already under his belt and a one-year extension signed in 2025, Samoskevich is poised to take the next step. If he can round out his two-way game, the Panthers may have found a future star.
