Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet and dropped a little bombshell that Calgary Flames forward Sam Bennett has requested a trade.

Friedman said Bennett’s agent Darren Ferris has let the team know he wants out of Calgary. Friedman talked to Bennett’s agent and he told him that the team will be in no rush to trade him and will wait for the right deal to come along.

Bennett, 24, had 12 points in 52 games last year. Currently he has 1 assist in 6 games in the 2021 NHL season.

Bennett feels he needs a change of scenery to bolster his career and likely to obtain a bigger contract in the future.  It’s time for the Flames to move on from the 4th overall pick from 2014 and highest selection in Flames franchise history.
