Robert Thomas might be one of the most interesting fantasy hockey centers heading into the 2026-27 NHL season because the St. Louis Blues have suddenly surrounded their No. 1 center with considerably more offensive firepower.
My Robert Thomas fantasy hockey projection for 2026-27 is 27 goals, 63 assists and 90 points in 78 games.
That would establish a new career high after Thomas previously reached 86 points in 2023-24 and 81 in 2024-25. Last season was different. Thomas still produced 25 goals and 39 assists for 64 points despite appearing in only 64 games, meaning he remained exactly a point-per-game player. He also led St. Louis in goals, assists and points.
The reason I believe another jump is possible isn’t simply Thomas’ talent. It’s what the St. Louis Blues have constructed around him.

Why Robert Thomas Could Reach 90 Points for the St. Louis Blues
Thomas has already established himself as one of the NHL’s better playmaking centers. The more interesting fantasy question is whether St. Louis finally has enough finishing talent around him to maximize that ability.
The projected top line entering the season has Dylan Holloway alongside Thomas and Jimmy Snuggerud. That trio produced significant momentum late last season. NHL.com noted that Thomas recorded 37 points over his final 30 games, while Snuggerud produced 40 points over his final 44 and Holloway finished particularly strongly as well. St. Louis’ late-September projected lineup continues to have Holloway–Thomas–Snuggerud together.
That’s important for fantasy managers. Thomas doesn’t need to suddenly become a 35-goal scorer to challenge 90 points. He needs his linemates to finish the chances he creates.
And that is where Snuggerud could become particularly important.
He scored 21 goals and 51 points as a rookie, and his combination of shot volume and finishing ability gives Thomas another legitimate scoring option on his wing.
Can Thomas Break the 90-Point Barrier?
The St. Louis Blues Power Play Could Unlock Another Level
This is the part of Thomas’ fantasy profile that interests me most.
During preseason practices, the Blues’ expected first power-play group has featured Thomas, Jimmy Snuggerud, Dylan Holloway, Mason McTavish and Philip Broberg. That isn’t theoretical roster speculation, the Blues themselves reported that configuration before their Sept. 21 preseason game.
McTavish gives the unit another player capable of operating around the net and finishing opportunities, while Snuggerud provides a shooting threat Thomas can find across the offensive zone. Broberg gives the group a mobile defenseman at the point.
Thomas recorded only 14 power-play points last season after producing 27 in 2023-24 and 19 in 2024-25. That creates an obvious area for positive regression.
My projection has Thomas returning to roughly 23-26 power-play points.
If that happens, 90 total points becomes much more realistic.
Why I’m Not Projecting 30-Plus Goals
There is one number fantasy managers should not ignore: Thomas’ 24.5% shooting percentage last season.
He scored 25 times despite recording only 102 shots. His previous two shooting percentages were 15.3% and 14.5%, so expecting another season around 24-25% would be overly aggressive.
That’s why my projection doesn’t simply extrapolate his 25 goals over an 82-game schedule.
Instead, I’m expecting his shot volume to recover while his shooting percentage moves closer to his established level. A season around 27 goals feels attainable without requiring another unusually high conversion rate.
The assists are where I expect the larger increase.
Thomas recorded 60 assists in consecutive seasons before falling to 39 last year. With Holloway and Snuggerud on his wings and a deeper first power-play unit, a return above 60 assists is realistic.

NHL.com’s preseason projection is more conservative at 80 points, so my 90-point prediction represents an upside case rather than a consensus forecast. NHL.com nevertheless notes that Thomas could challenge his previous career high because of his chemistry with Holloway and Snuggerud.
For me, Thomas is the type of fantasy center whose ceiling comes from deployment rather than massive individual shot volume. If the Blues’ first line stays together and the revamped first power-play unit clicks, he has a legitimate path toward becoming a 90-point fantasy hockey player.
The floor remains attractive as well. Thomas has averaged at least one point per game in each of the past three seasons, making another productive year far easier to envision than a significant offensive collapse.
