Porter Martone may be one of the most fascinating fantasy hockey players to draft for the 2026-27 NHL season because the Philadelphia Flyers are giving him something young players rarely receive this quickly: a legitimate opportunity to become one of the focal points of their offense.
My Porter Martone fantasy hockey projection is 31 goals, 39 assists and 70 points for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2026-27.
That might sound aggressive for a 19-year-old entering his first full NHL season, but Martone already gave fantasy managers a preview of what could be coming. He produced four goals and six assists for 10 points in only nine regular-season games last season while putting 32 shots on goal. He wasn’t simply picking up secondary points, either. Martone showed that his combination of size, skill, puck protection and willingness to attack scoring areas could translate immediately to the NHL.
The biggest reason I’m willing to push his projection into the 70-point range, however, is opportunity.
Porter Martone’s Flyers Power-Play Role Could Fuel a Fantasy Breakout
Martone is positioned to receive first-unit power-play time alongside Tyson Foerster, Trevor Zegras, Travis Konecny and Jamie Drysdale.
For fantasy hockey managers, that deployment matters almost as much as Martone’s raw talent.
Zegras gives Philadelphia a creative puck distributor who can manufacture passing lanes. Konecny brings shooting ability, competitiveness and proven NHL production. Foerster provides another legitimate finishing threat, while Drysdale has the skating ability to move defenders and distribute from the blue line.
Martone can become the player who makes the entire unit more difficult to defend.
At 6-foot-3, he can establish position around the net, retrieve loose pucks and create problems below the faceoff dots while still possessing enough skill to make plays away from the crease. That combination should produce goals, assists and secondary-category fantasy value.
Last season’s small NHL sample was impressive: Martone recorded 32 shots in nine games, or more than 3.5 shots per game. He also recorded four power-play points during those nine regular-season games. Those rates obviously shouldn’t simply be multiplied across 82 games, but they’re encouraging indicators of how involved Martone was offensively almost immediately.

Why I Have Porter Martone Projected for 70 Points
The mistake fantasy managers could make is projecting Martone solely from his nine-game scoring pace.
Ten points in nine games translates to more than 90 points over 82 games. I’m nowhere near ready to project that kind of production because opposing teams will adjust, Martone will experience the normal ups and downs of a first full NHL season, and maintaining elite efficiency over an entire schedule is much harder than doing it for nine games.
But I’m equally unwilling to treat what happened last spring as meaningless.
Martone finished his NCAA season with 25 goals and 50 points in 35 games for Michigan State before stepping directly into Philadelphia’s lineup and producing at the NHL level. NHL.com currently projects him for 68 points and views him as its top-ranked fantasy rookie for 2026-27.
My projection lands slightly higher.
I see Martone producing approximately:
31 goals
39 assists
70 points
A reasonable fantasy range is roughly 62-76 points, with his ceiling becoming much more interesting if Philadelphia’s power play takes a significant step forward.
The Stat Fantasy Managers Should Watch With Martone
I’m watching Martone’s shot volume almost as closely as his point production.
He generated 32 shots in nine regular-season games last season. If Martone settles somewhere around three shots per game over a full season, a 30-goal season becomes considerably easier to envision.
His shooting percentage during that brief NHL stretch was 12.5 percent, which isn’t an outrageous number for a talented offensive forward. The more important question is whether Philadelphia consistently puts him in positions where he can generate 220-plus shots.
If that happens, I believe 30 goals is very realistic.
Martone should also have additional value in fantasy formats that count hits. NHL.com noted that he had 16 hits during those nine regular-season games, giving him the possibility of becoming a valuable multi-category winger rather than simply a points specialist.
Martone Is Already Showing the Right Mentality
Another reason I’m comfortable betting on Martone is how he has approached his rapid NHL rise.
At Flyers development camp this summer, Martone made it clear he wasn’t assuming last season guaranteed him anything, saying that “there’s still a team to make and a job to earn.”
That matters.
Young players with elite offensive ability will inevitably make mistakes. What determines whether they continue receiving premium opportunities is often how quickly they adjust without the puck, handle coaching and respond when production temporarily dries up.
Everything Philadelphia has publicly indicated suggests Martone understands that.
For fantasy managers, the opportunity is straightforward: you’re getting a potential top-line winger with first-unit power-play exposure who has already demonstrated that NHL scoring didn’t overwhelm him.

My final projection for Porter Martone with the Philadelphia Flyers is 31 goals, 39 assists and 70 points.
There will be volatility. A teenage forward playing his first full NHL season isn’t going to produce like a veteran every night.
But the combination of shot generation, power-play deployment, physical tools, offensive instincts and talented linemates gives Martone one of the more attractive breakout profiles in fantasy hockey.
I would be comfortable targeting him aggressively once established veteran stars are off the board.
And if someone in your league looks only at his nine NHL games and decides the sample is too small?
That could be exactly where the value appears.
