The Philadelphia Flyers’ are in the playoff hunt but the team appears poised to be sellers leading up to the trade deadline. One of their most likely trade pieces is veteran defenseman Sean Walker.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports that the Flyers are more likely to explore a Sean Walker trade than work out an extension with the defenseman. This news comes as little surprise, as the Flyers are still retooling their roster.
Where Could Sean Walker Land?
A few teams have already registered interest in the 29-year-old defenseman. Among them are three playoff contenders:
- Toronto Maple Leafs: The Leafs crave defensive stability and Walker’s responsible style could be a welcome addition.
- Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers are always on the hunt for experienced defensemen who can help bolster their blue line.
- Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning, while perennial contenders, could use some depth on defense after the Sergachev injury.
What Could the Flyers Get in Return?
While Sean Walker isn’t a superstar, he’s an experienced depth defenseman who can log minutes on a contending team. Expect the return to include picks and potentially a young prospect to help the Flyers’ rebuild.
