Elias Pettersson Carolina Hurricanes trade discussions
Elliotte Friedman confirms Canucks-Hurricanes trade talks for Elias Pettersson. Will he be dealt before the deadline?

Elliotte Friedman has the NHL rumor mill in overdrive after making a shocking revelation on his 32 Thoughts Podcast – the Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes recently engaged in serious trade discussions surrounding star center Elias Pettersson.

Friedman stated: “Canucks GM Patrik Allvin did have talks with Carolina, those were legit, Carolina made an offer, I don’t know what it was, but at the very least it made Vancouver think.”

Could Elias Pettersson Be Headed to Carolina?

He then added that Allvin and Canucks President Jim Rutherford went to Pettersson’s agent with an ultimatum: provide a clear answer on re-signing intentions, or the team would seriously consider the offer.

This bombshell raises a major question: will Pettersson be re-signed by the NHL trade deadline or will he be on his way to Carolina or another team?

Pettersson, a dynamic offensive force, is a restricted free agent at season’s end. Lengthy and, at times, contentious negotiations have created uncertainty around his future in Vancouver. The Hurricanes, a perennial contender, could be a tantalizing destination for the young Swede.
