Michael Arace: Columbus Blue Jackets media day off to a rousing start. President John Davidson comes right out and announces what the team has offered hold out forward Ryan Johansen: $6M/2yrs, $32M/6 yrs, $46M/8 yrs.

The Blue Jackets and Johansen are not in a good place right now. This could lead to Johansen demanding a trade out of Columbus.

Sportsnet: The Ottawa Senators have offered forward Bobby Ryan a 7-year contract extension. Rumours recently surfaced that Ryan turned down a seven-year, $49-million offer.

Darcy Kuemper is a restricted free agent and seeking a fair deal from the Wild. Kuemper is asking for a one-year, one-way deal. The Wild want him to sign a two-year deal, in which the first year will be a two-way deal and the second year will be one-way.
