His job will depend on making the necessary adjustments. The Habs have kept tabs on Duchene’s asking price – and he makes a lot of sense, given their need at centre and his ability to produce points.
Will the Oilers make a trade for a defenceman?
TSN: Pierre LeBrun was on insider trading and states speculates the Edmonton Oilers might have to add some blueline depth with veteran Andrej Sekera still recovering from a torn ACL suffered during last spring’s playoffs. He feels the bottom half of their defense could be an area of scrutiny. They’ll start the year with their internal options but over the course of time GM Peter Chiarelli could take a look at the trade market.
Will the Leafs trade James van Riemsdyk?
TSN: Darren Dreger believes the Toronto Maple Leafs could get more from winger James van Riemsdyk on the trade market than their other pending unrestricted free agents, including Tyler Bozak and Leo Komarov. Dreger isn’t predicting van Riemsdyk is the most likely to get traded. However, he feels there are teams that could be willing to pay more for JVR based on the belief they could get more out of him and push him to a higher level.
