TSN Radio: Darren Dreger was on the radio discussing the Montreal Canadiens woes. He feels a rebuild could be in order and the likely candidate to be traded is Max Pacioretty. The Canadiens are getting plenty of calls from other clubs interested in dealing with them. However, the front office is determined not to make any panic moves. He doesn’t think Habs owner Geoff Molson is in a hurry to fire Marc Bergevin.

The Athletic: There are several trade scenarios bandied about of late for the Vancouver Canucks. Defenseman Erik Gudbranson’s status as an unrestricted free agent at season’s end could make him a trade candidate, especially given speculation his asking price could be between $5-$6 million annually. Gudbranson could be moved as a playoff rental to a club looking at a deep playoff run, getting draft picks in return. Defenceman Chris Tanev is signed through 2020 and he’s been linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the rumor mill.

TORONTO SUN: Steve Simmons wonders if the Toronto Maple Leafs re-signing Josh Leivo means this is James van Riemsdyk’s final season in Toronto. “Leivo is no van Riemdsyk, but he can be a less expensive, less productive version of him. He is big, with good hands, some power-play skills and offensive creativity. He has upside, the question is: How much?”
