Is Vancouver interested in Buffalo Sabres Ryan O’Reilly?
Sportsnet 650: Elliotte Friedman was on Vancouver’s radio station discussing the team and Ryan O’Reilly. If general manager Jason Botterill decides to put the O’Reilly on the trade block, he’ll set a high asking price. O’Reilly has five years left on his contract with a $7.5-million annual salary-cap hit. He also lacks no-trade protection. Friedman said he hasn’t heard any names specifically linked to the Vancouver Canucks, though he knows the O’Reilly stuff is really starting to get out there too. The Sabres would likely want a young NHL player or a prospect, a high draft pick, and maybe something else on top of that for O’Reilly.
The LA Kings will look to add a scoring winger this off-season
The Fourth Period: The Los Angeles Kings plan on exploring the trade market for a top-six scoring winger. Kings GM Rob Blake expressed interest in Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty during the season and will likely contact the Habs this off-season about Pacioretty. The Kings have also been linked to Mats Zuccarello of the New York Rangers, unrestricted free agent Ilya Kovalchuk, and Pittsburgh Penguins sniper Phil Kessel.
Will Rick Nash re-sign with the Boston Bruins?
98.5 The Sports Hub: The Boston Bruins will likely try to persuade Rick Nash into signing a “short-term” deal with the club, on the prospect of winning. But with Nash turning 34 years old in less than two weeks, Nash may be looking for a longer term contract. The Bruins would like to re-sign Nash after giving up a ton of assets, which included a first-round pick and highly-touted prospect Ryan Lindgren. Nash’s acquisition was expected to push Boston over the edge instead they were knocked out in the second round.
