Although we’ve entered August, there is still one NHL player whose name is frequently mentioned in NHL trade rumors: Matt Dumba.
The Arizona Coyotes and San Jose Sharks are expected to be cellar dwellers in the NHL this coming season but that is not stopping them from targeting a certain right-shot defenseman.

Elliotte Friedman in his last podcast of the hockey year stated that he feels the Arizona Coyotes are the team Matt Dumba will sign with.
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, the Arizona Coyotes are leading the race to acquire Dumba. However, we should not ignore the San Jose Sharks, as they have reached out to Dumba to gauge his interest in joining their team.
NHL trade rumors have Dumba signing a seven-year contract extension worth $49 million. It will be very similar to the one Troy Terry just signed with Anaheim.
He’s not going to sign with either the Sharks or coyotes long term. If he signs with one it’ll be a one year contract worth much less than 7mil. I don’t think any team would sign him long term for top dollar. His underlying numbers have dropped off the last two years not just the boxcars
