Claude Giroux

The Hockey News: Would the Philadelphia Flyers consider trading Claude Giroux? The Flyers are in an awful slump and GM Ron Hextall is looking to make some trades. Philadelphia Daily News’ sportswriter Sam Donnellon suggests they trade center Claude Giroux while he’s still valuable. Grioux is in the second year of an eight-year deal with a full no-movement clause and an annual cap hit of $8.275 million. Even if Giroux waived his no-movement clause, not many teams can take on the cap hit!

Latest Patrick Marleau rumors: If Marleau truly wants out of San Jose, he could be forced to wait until the off-season. That’s when teams have more cap space and a willingness to swing deals for expensive talent. The other option is for Marleau to expand the list he would want to play for. The Hockey News reports Marleau could add Chicago and Nashville to the list of teams he would be willing to play for.

StarTribune.com: The Columbus Blue Jackets are shopping forwards Cam Atkinson and Kerby Rychel “hard”.  GM Jarmo Kekalainen is hoping to land a defenceman in return.
