Kampf, who carries a $2.4 million AAV for the next three seasons, may require a sweetener to entice another team to take on his contract. The Leafs could potentially include a draft pick or a prospect to facilitate the deal.
While Kampf has been a valuable asset to the Leafs, his departure could be the necessary sacrifice to bring in Pacioretty and Lorentz. Pacioretty, a proven goal scorer, would add a much-needed offensive punch to the Leafs’ top six. Lorentz, a versatile forward, could provide depth and energy to the bottom six.
