Picture of Nick Robertson and Alex Turcotte. With the Leafs and Kings make the trade?
The latest NHL trade rumors have the Toronto Maple Leafs and LA Kings swapping Nick Robertson for Alex Turcotte.

NHL trade rumors in the offseason have mostly focused on William Nylander of the Toronto Maple Leafs, but there is increasing speculation that the Leafs could also trade forward Nick Robertson.

Before the preseason starts in a few weeks, the LA Kings may trade Alex Turcotte for Robertson in a potential one-for-one deal.

Why a Kings Alex Turcotte for Leafs Nick Robertson trade works

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson, 22, has been set back by injuries in the early stages of his NHL career, preventing him from playing in the Leafs lineup.

The same can be said for LA Kings center Alex Turcotte, 22, who was drafted 5th overall at the 2019 NHL entry draft.

Toronto needs more depth at center position while the Kings require additional depth at the winger position. Therefore, it makes sense for Robertson and Turcotte to switch teams and explore new opportunities in their respective careers.

Though Robertson has produced slightly more than Turcotte, their skills and potential make them valuable assets. It seems that a change of scenery is necessary for them, and we will soon discover whether this NHL trade rumor will become a reality.

What are NHL fans saying about a Nick Robertson for Alex Turcotte trade?

I think it is an excellent deal for both teams but I am not sure the Kings are ready to give up on Turcotte.

The Leafs should give Robertson one more shot. He has shown flashes of greatness. Turcotte is a draft bust.

Moritz Seider, Dylan Cozens, Trevor Zegras all drafted after Turcotte. Oops. I think the Kings want a do-over.
